We are very proud to have such competent and educated teachers at our school. See below for our own teachers. During the Court of Master Sommelier course we are visited by different Master Sommeliers to carry out the education.

Dick Samuelsson

Dick is SWA’s principal. He has worked with wine for more than 35 years, primarily as a wine chemist at Vin & Sprit, Swedens former alcohol monopoly of import and distribution of alcohol. Dick is always in search of new knowledge, which means that he is unbeatable in Trivial Pursuit.

Pontus Jennerholm

Pontus have been lecturing at Scandinavian Wine Academy since 2015 and is primarily working with developing our course material. He’s been in the restaurant industry for a long time and he also have seven years experience of teaching at university level at Grythyttan.

He has a B.A in Culinary Arts and Meal Science, WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines & Spirits and is currently studying to become a Master of Wine.

Erik Plöen Casterud

Erik is our Director of Education, a teacher at Scandinavian Wine Academy and he also manages a lot of the economy. He started at the Swedish alcohol monopoly in 2006 and has since worked as a wine director at Restaurant GQ, started a brewery, studied geology & climatology, oenology and business & economics.

He is currently studying for WSET Level 4 Diploma in Wines & Spirits.

Åke Nordgren

Åke is the CEO at Akebono, a sake importer in Sweden. He is also one of Europes primary experts in japanese food and beverage. He is a Sake samurai, which only 38 people in the world can call them selves. He is also a judge at IWSC and IWC in London.

At the Scandinavian Wine Academy Åke teaches the WSET Level 3 Award in Sake.
